- Nomination: The first stage allows clients, lawyers and marketing teams to nominate lawyers. Lawyers cannot nominate themselves.
- Peer review: Once the nominations have been validated, recognized lawyers rate the candidates on a scale of 1 to 5, answering the question: “Would you recommend this candidate for a case you could not handle?” with the possibility of adding a comment. This provides direct, relevant feedback about the skills of each lawyer.
- Analysis: The results and comments of the evaluators are then analyzed to provide a detailed view of each candidate’s skills.
- Verification of eligibility: Best Lawyers® verifies that the selected lawyers are in good standing with their bar association, guaranteeing compliance with professional and ethical standards.
- Publication of results: Last, the results are published in the print and online version of Best Lawyers®, and newly recognized lawyers are notified.
